Can-Am Spyder Roadster – Auto Or Motorcycle, You Decide

Bombardier Recreational Products is more known for Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft and Rotax engines. So when the unveiling of the Can-Am Spyder happened in September 2007, more than a few eyebrows were raised. What exactly is this odd looking machine, and what category does it fit in?

One can argue that is more motorcycle than auto just because of its seating position. The operator is perched on the machine in the wind exactly like a motorcycle. Throttle controls, braking and transmission operation are all laid out just like a motorcycle. Then there is the engine. A genuine Rotax 990cc v-twin that could be at home in either a motorcycle or a snowmobile. A motorcycle it is then, right? Don’t get too hasty just yet. Read on.

Obtaining Parts For Your Vehicle

Your car or truck has been acting up lately, and you finally have a break in your schedule to take a look at it. Hopefully, the repair will be fairly simple and straight forward, but most likely than not, a part or parts will be required to complete the job. Here are some tips to study before you take that trip to the local auto parts store or the dealership.

Upon entering the local parts store, the parts man will ask you what year, make, and model your vehicle is. This author calls this the shotgun approach. It gets the employee in the ball park with your vehicle, and then they will narrow down the choices. For the specific system being attended to, they will ask you various choices to zero in on the correct part required. Surprisingly enough, this approach is quite accurate. It’s a good idea to know what size of engine your vehicle is equipped with, transmission, two or four wheel drive, or if the auto has anti-lock braking. The aftermarket is a great resource for almost any of your automobile needs.

American Motors AMX – Forgotten American Muscle

In 1968 the American Motors Corporation made a sudden 180 degree turn from their usual line of family style vehicles and officially entered into the muscle car market place. The 1968 AMX was born, and it went head to head with the already proven, asphalt stomping Corvette. This was quite an undertaking, as the company was not a large producer of autos in the first place. Although coming up short in the end against the Corvette, the car was undoubtedly a very potent contender.
