The history says something else. It was 1941, when Ford ran a project on soybean car. Henry ford, uncovered the car on August 13, 1941, on the annual occasion of Dearborn day. The car was plastic-bodied and had gone through certain channels before it was made. It was first projected to E.T. Gregorie, the styling in-charge, Ford and later was moved to the soybean Laboratory of Greenfield village, under Lowell Overly, due to lack of satisfaction. He was actually expertise on tool and die design. Robert A. Boyer, his supervisor and also chemist by profession assisted him in the project. The car was really light in weight: 2000 lbs. 1000lbs, which is even lighter than a steel car.
