The General Motors Company (GMC)first introduced the Yukon Denali in 1998. The Denali is the luxury version of the GMC Yukon. The only difference in the original Yukon Denali from the Yukon is the front fascia and lower side body panels. The Yukon Denali was also General Motors (GM) first design that was comparable enough to compete with the Lincoln Navigator. In 1999, the Yukon Denali shared the same body style with GM's Cadillac Escalade. The name, Denali, came from the native name for Mount McKinley in Alaska.
2001 may have been the year where the Yukon Denali really recognized its own identity. There were many things added to the car that made it really special. First, it was redesigned with a new honeycomb pattern grille, where it is now considered to be the hallmark for the Denali nameplate. Second, was the introduction of the 6.0 Liter V8 engine, which produced 320 horsepower. The extended-length version (Suburban-based) of the Yukon XL Denali was also released in 2001. Finally, the same engine that produced 320 horsepower in 2001 was upgraded in 2003 to produce 325 horsepower.
Once again though, in 2007, the Yukon Denali had faced some more changes. Yet again, the engine was revamped to be a 6.2 Liter V8, which this time around produced 380 horsepower. Even though the vehicle itself became more powerful, the body style became less aggressive. For instance, the grill struck controversy, and the headlights were changed. Finally, the 2007 model of the Yukon Denali included power folding second row seats and a rear backup camera.
New to the 2009 Yukon Denali, which is very convenient, is the standard keyless entry with remote start. In addition, this model includes the safety feature of Bluetooth integration, which allows hands free talking while driving. Also, the Yukon Denali is now a very quiet ride because of its specially placed sound absorbing components. The new Yukon Denali can be purchased for approximately $53,500.
