Several months ago I sold a car; rather I thought I sold a car. I thought to myself, how can I go wrong selling it to a co-worker and friend? She was married, had two kids and they lived with her mother. She was not planning on leaving town; she was going to stay right there. I should have never allowed her to give me half the cash upfront and the other half later. I should have said, "Thank you, but no, I have another buyer." No sooner had I handed her the keys, then she drove off owing me half the money. I have never heard from her again.
I did hear from the State of Texas my car was found 800 miles away, in Lubbock . The car had been in a parking lot for several days and the owner of the lot had it removed by the police, who placed it in a city tow yard. The letter I received informed me of the location of my vehicle and outlined that I was responsible for paying the tow fees and for costs incurred by the vehicle. I had 30 days, or it was being auctioned and I was still responsible for the remainder of the fees.
After much thought I decided I would go and get the vehicle. I asked my friends for volunteers to assist with retrieving it. Eventually, two friends offered to help and we took off for the Texas Panhandle. We stopped to refuel and change drivers as little as possible. We slept, we ate, and we drove for hours. I wanted to be at home, working, and having fun; not driving through the nowhere lands of Texas , smelling crude oil from the wells that dot the plains.
We arrived in Lubbock shortly before sunrise; we ate breakfast, had a nap, and got directions to the city lot where my car was in bondage. At 8 am, we arrived at the tow yard and to our unfortunate surprise the transmission had gone out. There was no moving it, in spite of our ability to pay the fees. We made some calls and found a national rental place where we could get a car dolly. Leaving the car in the parking lot, we went in search of yet another piece of the puzzle. About two hours later we were finally able to load the car and begin our trek back through the plains. I decided right then and there that if I EVER chose to sell a car again, I am going through Quick Cash Auto.
