The Most Stolen Cars

Car Thief Stealing Car

According to the 2007 calendar year, the 1995 Honda Civic continues its reign as the most stolen car in the country, while holding this title for four years. According to National Insurance Crime Bureau, older cars are targeted more as their parts have the best value on the streets. Another reason cited is that older cars quite simply have less chance of containing anti-theft measures.

The second and third most stolen car during the 2007 calendar year was the 1991 Honda Accord and the 1989 Toyota Camry, respectively, both older models which parts would have great street value. The most stolen pickup truck is also the fourth most stolen for the year; the 1997 Ford F-150. The Ford F-150 also boasts being the most stolen vehicle made on American soil. Ranked fifth is another pickup truck; the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500. To not much surprise, 1994 Acura Integra makes this yearly list which comes in as the sixth most stolen car in 2007. The seventh most stolen vehicle is one of two vehicles in the top ten built this century; the 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup. The 1994 Nissan Sentra ranks number eight on the list while the ninth most stolen vehicle is the only foreign pickup truck in the top ten and the oldest; the 1988 Toyota Pickup. Rounding out the list is the other vehicle in the top ten manufactured this century; the 2007 Toyota Corolla.

This data is collected through crime reports collected by the National Insurance Crime Bureau. According to NICB rates of stolen cars have decreased almost 9 percent since the 2006 calendar year. This positive trend can continue if anti-theft measurements are employed more often. From simply locking the doors to installing tracking and immobilizing devices, each step taken toward securing your vehicle is a step in the right direction.
