Review Of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in 1993 got the attention of many SUV consumers. The Base, Laredo, and Limited editions excited former Jeep fans and converted new ones. With its cloth seats and 5 speed manual shift, the Base gave birth to the improved Laredo and luxurious Limited editions. The Laredo, with its new power windows and mirrors and cruise control, offered an affordable SUV for the Jeep lover. The serious Jeep fan had the option with the Limited version. Its leather seats, 4 speed automatic shift, power seats, tinted windows, power mirrors, driver air bags and the awesome Infinity Gold sound system gave it an overwhelmingly edge over the other Grand Cherokee's.

The short-lived Grandwagoneer, which was actually a Grand Cherokee Limited with a "wood paneled" exterior, only lasted one year on the market. The Jeep Grand Cherokee won the hearts of the consumer, by offering 4-door SUVs. The option of the V-8 provided an extensive appeal by having the toughness to tow a family camper, while still holding some luxury.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee sported an option of 4 wheel drive systems, such as Command-Trac, Selec-Trac and Quadra-Trac. The Command-Trac was used only off-road or on slippery road conditions. The Selec-Trac offered a choice of having 4WD at all times or not. The Quadra-Trac provided a full time 4WD system.

From 1994-1999, refined improvements on the Grand Cherokee were made each year. The first subtle changes were made to the interior and exterior, which provided additional safety, such as the addition of passenger air bags. They then gave more power to the new 5.9 Limited edition, and then increased interior passenger and cargo space.

Like the Grandwagoneer of 1993, the "Orvis" edition, introduced in 1995, was also short-lived. This edition was discontinued in 1998. The demand for a larger SUV that would seat 7 passengers, unveiled the Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Commander. In 2005-2006, standard features, refined and upgraded, continued to provide Jeep fans exciting future plans for the Grand Cherokee.

The Grand Cherokee Laredo, Latitude, Rocky Mountain, Limited, Overland, Commander Sport, Liberty, Patriot, Compass and Wrangler continue to improve and provide consumers with new ideas and features for their future editions throughout the year 2011. Technology features, such as the Wifi internet access, voice activated communications, touch screen media, a navigation system, Sirius Satellite Streaming Video and Keyless Go options, allows the exciting Jeep Grand Cherokee to live on.
