Using Cruise Control

Cruise control is a great way to keep one's car at a steady pace without having to keep a foot on the gas pedal. This feature is especially desirable when a person is driving long distances because the driver will not have to strain their leg by keeping their foot on the gas (i.e. they will be able to stretch their legs or keep their legs in a comfortable position).

First, get on the road and figure out the speed you want to stay at. Generally, it's a good idea to set the speed at the speed limit or at the average rate of the cars around you. This way, you won't be in another car's way and you won't end up with speeding ticket. Once you know the speed you want to maintain, find the cruise controls in your car (they are usually on the steering wheel) and find the ON and SET buttons. Press the ON button first because this will turn the cruise control on. Then, press SET. Pressing the set button will keep the car at your desired speed.

If, at any time, you need to stop cruise control, all you have to do is press on the brakes. A light tap will turn cruise control off until you are ready to reuse it. If your controls have a RES button, you can always have the car reset to the former speed as long as you are moving at 30 miles per hour or more. To turn the entire cruise control system off, all you need to do is press OFF or turn your car off.

Cruise control is a great way to relax when driving. Learn how to use it and road trips will be more enjoyable.
