Pressed For Time? Have A Friend Sell Your Car

The time is upon you to move a hardly used vehicle out of your personal inventory. Sounds easy enough, but if like the rest of the people living in this country you just don't have the time to sell your car. You don't need it, it's taking up space and killing the lawn, and the revenue from the sale sure would be nice. After carefully checking your time schedule, you quickly realize that the time needed to sell your car is not available. Instead of letting the car sit and rust away until it is almost useless, call a friend or two and ask if they can devote some of their time to the sale. Most people are happy to do this and it will free up your time do other things that have to be done.

Before you decide to slap on a "For Sale" sign and have one of your buddies do the dealing, there are certain things that must be attended to. Is the car safe to operate on the city streets and county highways? If the answer is no, have the car repaired properly to be put back into service. No one likes a selling your car story where someone else gets hurt. Take care of the obvious, clean it up to your liking and then when it is safe to drive, turn it over to the friend. This could even save you a nasty lawsuit in the future if you sold a car knowing that something was severely wrong with it. The few extra bucks saved are just not worth it. Do it right the first time because there may not be a second time to do it over again.

Sit down with your friend and agree together exactly what the selling price is and what the bottom dollar figure will be. Perhaps this friend will be a great barterer. He or she likes the game of negotiating the deal. This is the type you will want to seek out. The better the bartering skills, the better deal you will receive when you sell your car. Don't expect to get rich off the deal, stay realistic, and let your friend do all the talking. Hopefully the friend you pick for this task is familiar with the car being sold, if not, get them up to speed with the vehicle before turning them loose. In short, make sure they can talk the talk before they walk the walk.

Compensation can be a real motivator when enlisting someone to sell your car. The commission should be agreed upon before the actual sale takes place. Don't be stingy and this friend will do the best possible job for you. The quicker the car sells, the quicker they will get their cut. This could be a windfall for both you and them, and actually help someone get through to a better financial position. Unless born into wealth, someone somewhere can always use a little extra income. It is far better to earn this income instead of just handing out money. Dignity is preserved and you have the job done without actually having to do it yourself.
