Sell My Car Seasonally
Do you have a really great convertible that you'd like to hold on to, but you have to sell because it's not working out as a family vehicle? Do you have a pickup truck that has hauling capabilities, and you don't need such a big vehicle anymore? Some vehicles are best sold seasonally, and you'll make the most money if you wait until the right time of year to list your car for sale.
- Sporty cars and convertibles are best sold during the summer, or at least when the weather has turned warm enough to roll the windows or the top down. When the weather turns cold, you'll have a hard time finding someone who is willing to pay you what your convertible is worth. Even if you need a different vehicle during the cold months, try to hold off on selling your old vehicle until the weather warms up.
- Trucks that are used to haul are likely to sell year round, but you may want to target your sale to a season during which hauling is common in your area. For example, if the colder months make hauling wood a common occurrence in your area; wait to sell your truck until the late fall or early winter.
- Minivans are typical family vehicles and are in demand on a regular basis, but many families start purchasing these types of vehicles at the start of the school year when carpooling to school and after school activities becomes an issue. You can try to sell your minivan during any season, but you're likely to get the best payoff in late summer and early fall.
- Vehicles with four-wheel drive are popular when winter weather is an issue. If you're selling a vehicle equipped with this feature, selling when people start to think about driving on snow and ice is best. Late fall and early winter is typically the right time, depending on the climate in your area.
Selling a vehicle can net you the most profit when you sell at the right time. Determine what kind of weather your vehicle is right for, and sell during the appropriate season to make the most money off of your used vehicle sale.
