It's No Fun Selling Your Own Car!

If you are thinking about selling your own vehicle, you might want to think about the alternatives. It requires a lot of work, and there are no guarantees that you can sell the car. You might not sell the car, and if you do, you may not get much for it.

Ford Escort

I tried to sell my used Ford Escort a few years ago. I cleaned up the car to the best of my ability. Then, I placed an ad in the paper. At first, I was flooded with calls from several people. Few people were actually interested in the car. Most asked a couple of questions about the vehicle and hung up. Finally, someone wanted to come and see the car. I stayed home so the potential buyer could see it. The person never showed up to look at the car. When I called them, they did not answer their phone. I wasted my Saturday, and I still had not sold the car!

The next day, someone else called and was very interested. They asked to come over that afternoon, and they actually showed up on time. I was really excited about selling my car to them until they made an offer. They offered five thousand dollars less than what I was asking. Of course, I told them no, and sent them on their way. I was incredibly insulted.

I dealt with people who wanted to drive the car, and to be honest, I was scared to ride with them. In addition, if I did not ride with them, I was afraid they would simply leave in the car. It is really not safe nowadays to deal with people in this manner.

After a difficult and fruitless experience, I let a small car dealership sell the car for me. I told them what I wanted to get, and they kept the difference. It was probably not the best option, but much better than selling the car for myself. I got rid of the car, and I received decent money for it.
