Never Sell A Car To A Friend

Several months ago I sold a car; rather I thought I sold a car to a friend of mine. I thought that it was the easiest and safest way to get rid of the car. She seemed like a legitimate person and in the time that we had worked together, she had been nothing but nice to me. She said that she wasn't planning on leaving town. I told her that she could give me half of the cash upfront and the other half when she was able to. I should have told her that I wasn't going to cut any deals for anyone but I needed the money. Two days after I had given her the keys to the car, I heard that she quit her job. I tried to reach her at her house but there was no answer. A week went by and I got a call from the state of Texas. They said that my car was found over 800 miles away. The car had been in a parking lot for several days and the owner of the lot had it removed by the police. The police placed the car in a city tow yard. I also received a letter that informed me that I was responsible for paying the tow fees and other costs that the car had incurred. I had 30 days, or it was being auctioned and I was still responsible for the remainder of the fees.

Selling Cars To Friends

After much thought, I decided to go and get the vehicle. I asked my friends to assist in retrieving it. Two of my friends offered to help and we jumped in the car. We stopped to refuel and change drivers as little as possible. We drove for hours. We arrived in the small town where the car was impounded shortly before sunrise. At 8 am, we arrived at the tow yard and to my surprise, the transmission had gone out. There was no moving it, despite our ability to pay the fees. We made some calls and found a national rental place where we could get a car dolly. Leaving the car in the parking lot, we went in search of yet another piece of the puzzle. About two hours later, we were finally able to load the car and begin our trek back home. I decided right then and there that if I EVER chose to sell a car again, I am going to do it through Quick Cash Auto.
